Disclosures

Last updated July 29, 2026

The things you are entitled to know before you take anything on this website as a reason to act.

Licensing

Long Island Life is an independent insurance agency. Insurance is offered by licensed insurance agents. Products are available only in states where the agent and the issuing insurance company are properly licensed. Not every product described on this site is available in every state.

This is not advice

Content on this website is general education about insurance products. It is not personalized financial, tax, legal, or investment advice, and it does not account for your specific circumstances. Before acting on anything here, speak with a licensed agent and, for tax or estate questions, a qualified tax professional or attorney.

Guarantees

All policy guarantees, including death benefits, guaranteed cash values, and annuity income payments, are backed solely by the financial strength and claims paying ability of the issuing insurance company. They are not insured by the FDIC, not guaranteed by any bank, and not guaranteed by any federal or state government agency. New York maintains a guaranty association that provides limited protection subject to statutory caps.

Rates and availability

Premiums quoted anywhere on this site or in conversation are estimates until an insurance company has completed underwriting and issued a policy. Actual rates depend on age, health, tobacco use, occupation, avocations, coverage amount, product selected, and state of residence. Rates and product availability change without notice.

Indexed products

Indexed universal life and fixed indexed annuities credit interest based on the performance of an external index. They are not investments in the stock market, do not participate in the market directly, and do not receive dividends from the index. Caps, participation rates, spreads, and floors are set by the insurance company and may be changed within the limits stated in the contract. Illustrations of non guaranteed elements are hypothetical and are not a prediction or projection of future results.

Living benefit riders

Accelerated benefit riders are subject to eligibility requirements and the definitions in the policy contract, and are not a substitute for long term care insurance, disability insurance, or health insurance. Any benefit accelerated reduces the death benefit payable to your beneficiary. Receipt of accelerated benefits may be taxable and may affect eligibility for public assistance programs. Consult a tax professional.

Tax treatment

General statements on this site about the tax treatment of life insurance reflect our understanding of federal law as of the date of publication. Tax law changes, and the treatment of any particular arrangement depends on facts we do not know. Nothing here is tax advice. New York imposes its own estate tax with its own threshold, separate from the federal one.

How we are paid

Life insurance rates are filed with state regulators. You pay the same premium whether you apply directly to an insurance company or through an agent. When a policy is issued, the insurance company pays the agency a commission. Commission amounts differ between products and between carriers. We disclose this because it is a real conflict of interest that exists throughout this industry, and you should weigh any recommendation with it in mind.

Testimonials and results

Any examples used on this site are illustrative and do not represent a specific client or guarantee any particular outcome. We do not publish fabricated reviews or stock photography presented as clients.
